Celine Dion BiographyCeline Dion hails from a small town called Charlemagne in Quebec. Celine is the youngest of 14 children. Celine's family owned a pub and on weekends the whole family would perform for their customers. Celine started singing at the young age of five and by twelve, Celine, her mother, and brother wrote a song, which changed the course of her destiny.

Rene Angelil, currently, her husband and manager, heard the song. Celine's voice captivated Angelil and knew instantly that there was a major talent here. In 1981, Angelil mortgaged his house to invest in her first album.

International recognition came about when Celine was awarded the Gold Medal at the Yamaha World Song Festival in Tokyo and concurrently, the much sought after Musician's Award for Top Performer. As well, in 1983, Dion received a Gold Record in France, the very first Canadian to do so. Moreover, Celine was awarded numerous Felix Awards and had many platinum albums, culminating in 1988 with the distinguished Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin Ireland. Celine sang live before a 600 million-television audience throughout Europe.

Celine's career escalated to one of a pop icon known worldwide when she recorded the title song for Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Celine has one of the world's superlative voices mastering her craft with hit after hit. She is an international superstar.
